You’re receiving this monthly newsletter because you’ve been a valuable part of my life in some shape or form (or I’d like for you to be 🙂). See this video for context.
Hello friends! Brandon here after a long 3-month hiatus. As of a few days ago, I recently completed the last BIG thing that momentously welcomes in the next chapter of my life, one that I've been spending the past 12 weeks navigating.
This will be a slightly longer update to recap what the past little while has been like for me; here's the quick summary of how things have been:
I've started a Founding Ops role at Vitalize (YC W23)
I've been focused on building community for others, improving my data fluency, and traveling across the US
I've been nerding out about some personal workflows that shave 4-5s off of very recurring tasks, switched my OS to Craft, and have done a great job of defining work/life balance.
If you want to catch up, shoot me a note! I'd love to see how things are going on your end :)
My updates
I’ve started a Founding Ops role at Vitalize (YC W23) - we're building the layer for healthcare operating systems, starting with an intelligent staffing platform for bedside practitioners. I've been a Swiss army knife for Vitalize, but primarily with a focus on product success and building the infrastructure that can sustain our support and implementation functions → two incredibly important domains for any healthcare platform.
I've been on 15 flights in the past 12 weeks. I've had the opportunity to visit our hospitals across the US, and spend a ton of time with our customers. On top of this, most of the time not travelling was spent dealing with the logistics of this transition. Huge thank you to my lawyers who helped me during this process. I moved places, sorted out a whole new commute situation, and had to do all of that while averaging a little over a flight a week.
Given that I'm now over a year in the Bay Area, I've been grateful to have met some incredible people. My transition was harder than expected, and finding good people is always tough when moving to a brand-new city. I've empathized with this and have spent a purposeful amount of time seeking out newcomers and hosting informal gatherings for my friends: barbecues, sports, and beach days. I know a few of you are moving here soon, so lmk if I can help in any way!
On my mind
Been thinking a lot about my initial obsessions during early undergrad. I was down a deep research rabbit hole on autoimmunity and immune cell function. Nowadays, it's a rarity for me to look into this. I've been thinking a lot about additional ways to get back into the field, and want to intentionally allocate more thought and time to this over the next few weeks.
I've been thinking a lot about the recurring actions that occur daily, and trying to optimize them as much as possible. I've shifted my OS to Craft to simplify; built some Apple Scripts to help with tasks like launching my 10 applications every workday; latched on some custom keyboard shortcuts for every high-touch application; refined my travel system for reduced time spent packing + going through airports.
Adulting hit me hard. Finding a roommate, coordinating the logistics of the move, and dealing with all of my life admin that has been piling up takes a toll. Unfortunately, this monthly newsletter was one of those things that had to be deprioritized, but hoping to do a better job of this moving forward.
Lmk if you are (or know someone who is) working on or thinking about the above!
What’s next
Spending a few days back in Toronto to visit friends and family and attend a wedding
Settling into new routines at my new home in South Bay
Looking to catch myself up on the world of autoimmunity after being detached from it for so long
Any conversations or intros would be very appreciated! Find a time here.

Really resonate with how you’re always trying to optimize your workflow. Curious as to why you decided to make the switch to Craft?
