You’re receiving this monthly newsletter because you’ve been a valuable part of my life in some shape or form (or I’d like for you to be 🙂). See this video for context.
Let’s catch up sometime :)
My thoughts led me here 🌱
It’s the end of May, and I finally found some breathing room to reflect on the month that was. I’m in a foreign city with nothing but my thoughts. That’s not entirely true - I have a place to stay, an office, and people who (I think) care about me. But, at this stage, it still feels like nothing but my thoughts.
This is, of course, describing what has been my life in Palo Alto, where I’ve settled into a robotic routine of rapid intellectual and physical movement and a deafening silence that prominently highlights my thoughts.
There’s something incredibly raw about being truly alone, for maybe the first time. Those closest to me is a resonant 3,720 kilometers away. A phone call is now interrupted by an inconvenient 3 hour timezone difference. Now what? I moved all the way here in a motivated intellectual pursuit (purely so).
In a way, I left to pursue higher-order thinking, where the ecosystem that surrounds me has a unilateral, deep focus on their craft. It was my thoughts that led me here, and now I’m stuck with them.
And, now I’m missing the diversity of thought that existed in the life before. Creatives, corporate, crazies - they all uniquely contributed to the city that was.
And now we move forward.
My updates 🍯
Building good default settings: reading, moving, and thinking (a lot). The amount of personal and intellectual growth here has been unparalleled.
Work wise, I have a very cool window to run experiments on a daily basis. Figuring out the best sales approaches, development life cycles, and product iterations has been incredibly fun and stimulating.
Had a few friends from Toronto crash with me for the past few weeks.
And of course, being alone with my thoughts, which is a truly romantic thing. It’s something I have never experienced before, and I’m learning to appreciate it.
Personal asks 🙏
Intros to anyone in clinical research, from a Sponsor or Sites perspective.
Anyone in South Bay? Seems like all of the new grads are up in SF. I have yet to meet anyone my age down here.
Thanks for reading this month’s update. Would love to hear how I can help you this month (maybe I can make some intros, work through some thoughts with you, or otherwise). See you next month 👋
